Bogor Botanic Garden

Istana Bogor - Presidential Palace. Only groups that have pre-arrangements can go inside the palace.

Lotus

Palms

Unknown flowers that have a very subtle sweet smell.

Coco fruit.

My parents thought this was a well. Almost. This is one of the many garbage deposits in Kebun Raya.

This group was practicing some sort of Qigong or martial art in Kebun Raya. Those in white uniforms are coaches, or group leaders.

Bogor public transportation - this kind of green mini-bus is everywhere.
Bogor is a satellite city of Jakarta. With the everlasting urban sprawling and increasing housing cost in Jakarta, many people opt to live in Bogor and other surrounding cities, forming a "JABODETABEK", now an official name of the metropolitan Jakarta and its surrounding cities. BO in this new word refers to Bogor, about 1 hour drive on highway by car - without traffic, of course.

Bogor is best known for its 80-hectare botanic garden,or Kebun Raya. It is said that Dutch researchers, during the colonial period, developed some cash crops in this botanic garden. Today, it's still a functioning research center.
